300 wsm vs 7mm rem mag recoil

Recoil is worse with a .300. The 7mm-08 is a bit closer to the 308 and doesn't really come close to the ballistics of the 7mm mag. The synthetic stocked rifle looks like a Winchester. These will give substantially better performance than the 308 and won't burn barrels nearly as fast as the 7mm mag. The fact that it also has a milder recoil than the 300 Win Mag makes the 7mm Rem Mag a sound choice for those heading out on mountain hunting expeditions. The .300 WSM has similar (slightly better) capabilities, though as I understand it, they can't really make good use of the heavier 200 and 220 gr. Ballistically (at least to 300 yards or so) the 30-06 in a comparable bullet weight is very similar. I have yet to have a case separation in my Browning 7mm rem mag.
